Faith & Religious Programs

What the program does

• Structured religious education classes for children, youth and adults, including study of the Holy Qur’an, prayer and Islamic history.
• Public lectures, seminars and conferences on Islamic teachings and their application to everyday life and service to others.
• Congregational prayers, sermons and religious observances (such as Ramadan programs and Eid gatherings) once suitable premises are available.
• Producing, translating and distributing religious literature and educational materials in print and digital formats.

Intended beneficiaries

Members of the public who wish to learn about or practise their faith, including children and youth (with guardian consent), adults, families and seniors.

Eligibility

• Open to all members of the public who wish to attend; there is no fee barrier to participation.
• Children’s and youth classes require registration and written consent from a parent or guardian.
• Participants are expected to follow a published code of conduct.

How participants are selected

• Open registration on a first-come basis where space is limited.
• Reasonable accommodations are offered to participants with accessibility needs.

Assistance that may be provided

• Instruction by qualified teachers and scholars approved under the program’s curriculum policy.
• Free learning materials and publications.
• Online and in-person sessions to reduce barriers of distance and mobility.

Applications & referrals

• Register through the Contact page or the program registration form when sessions are announced.
• Schedules will be published on the News & Updates page.

Delivery method

• Sessions held in rented or shared community spaces, places of worship made available for the purpose, and online.
• Curricula and speakers approved in advance by the board or a board-appointed program committee.

Oversight

• Board approval of curricula, speakers and publications.
• Safeguarding Policy applies to all activities involving children and youth, including screening of instructors and two-adult supervision.
• Attendance and program records retained in accordance with the Foundation’s records policy.

Expected outcomes

• Increased access to religious education and worship.
• Greater understanding of Islamic teachings and values, including service to humanity.
• Accessible religious literature available in multiple languages.

How results will be measured

• Number of sessions held and attendance.
• Participant feedback surveys.
• Number and languages of publications produced and distributed.

What the program does

• Assessing community needs for accessible places of worship and learning.
• Where approved, establishing or acquiring facilities for prayer, religious services and religious education.
• Supporting the maintenance of existing places of worship through gifts to qualified donees, where appropriate.

• Facilities and services supported by the Foundation will be open to the public in accordance with published facility-use policies.

How participants are selected

• Any capital project must pass a documented needs assessment and feasibility study.
• Projects are ranked against published criteria: community need, accessibility, sustainability of operating costs, and legal and zoning compliance.

Assistance that may be provided

• Physical facilities for worship and learning.
• Capital or maintenance support to eligible qualified donees operating places of worship.

Applications & referrals

• Community input will be invited through consultation before any project proceeds.

Delivery method

• Delivered directly by the Foundation or through gifts to qualified donees, as the board determines.

Oversight

• Board approval required for all capital expenditures and property transactions.
• Independent appraisal and professional advice for any acquisition.
• Conflict of Interest Policy applies; no director or related person may benefit from a transaction.

Expected outcomes

• Sustainable, accessible places for worship and religious education.

How results will be measured

• Facility availability (hours per week).
• Number of services and classes held.
• Accessibility features provided.
