Volunteers will be at the heart of our programs. By joining early, you can help shape how they are built.

Why volunteer

Practical service, done well

Good intentions become real help through organization, training and teamwork.

Every volunteer role will have a written description, orientation and a named coordinator. Roles involving children, youth or vulnerable adults will require a police vulnerable-sector check, references and safeguarding training. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, faiths and abilities, and will provide accommodations where needed.

Our programs are planned and have not yet started. When you register interest, we will contact you as roles open.

Food & essentials

Sorting, packing and distributing hampers; inventory and food-safety support.

Tutoring & teaching

Tutoring youth, facilitating workshops, supporting English conversation groups.

Youth mentorship

Mentoring and leadership sessions (screening required).

Seniors’ companionship

Friendly visits and check-in calls (screening required).

Translation & outreach

Translating materials and helping newcomers find information.

Professional skills

Accounting, law, communications, IT, fundraising and program evaluation.

From interest to your first shift

  2. Conversation

    A short call to discuss your interests and availability.

  3. Screening

    References and, for some roles, a police vulnerable-sector check.

  4. Orientation & training

    Our code of conduct, privacy, safeguarding and role training.

  5. Begin serving

    With support from a coordinator and recorded volunteer hours.
